SMALL GRANT PROGRAMME

To support MPAs in their role of sustainable protection of the marine and coastal biodiversity in West Africa, while ensuring a sustainable economic development of human activities, RAMPAO has initiated a Small Grant Programme (SGP).

These small grants help directly support MPAs in the implementation of concrete actions towards stepping up the effectiveness of their management, creating pilot actions or developing tools that can also be useful to other MPAs: RAMPAO at the service of its members!

SMALL GRANTS ELIBIBILITY CRITERIA

This programme is mainly aimed at the Network’s member MPAs. Yet, the grants are open to other MPAs willing to adhere to the Network and that have already undertaken admission measures.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

Eligible countries: The funding will be allocated to MPAs of the West African ecoregion that are members of the RAMPAO Network (Cape Verde, the Gambia, Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, Mauritania, Senegal, and Sierra Leone).

Eligible project initiators:
Project initiators can be:

  • MPA managers;
  • Members of MPA management committees ;
  • Community-based bodies involved in MPA management ;
  • Governmental agencies involved in the conservation and management of marine and coastal resources.

PROJECT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The project must:

  • Meet the requirements of preservation of the marine and coastal biodiversity, generating sustainable social, economic, and environmental benefits for MPAs;
  • Demonstrate the participation or involvement of the community all along the project cycle ;
  • Demonstrate mechanisms of functionality of the acquisitions.
